In Star Wars, a boy can grow up to be a knight or a wizard, but if you’re a girl, you have one good role model- one good, sexy role model- but you better be born a princess or good at space hooking, cuz those are your options [x]
"bisexual women are not more accepted than gay men and lesbians, they’re more sexualized. and that is a huge difference.”
~Stevie Boebi (aka SassiBoB) from the YouTube video “Bisexuals are GREEDY WHORES”: Lesbians hate on and discriminate against Bisexual Women. Cut it out.

-sydneyyy27- asked: I understand that Jared Leto is not transgender, but he was not making fun of the transgender community by acting and dressing the way he did in the movie. He was just following the script he was given. I'm not meaning to sound mean. I fully respect your opinion, I'm just stating mine.
We didn’t call him mean, we called him ignorant of trans struggle and culture. You don’t have to hate trans people to inadvertently hurt them and a trans woman in that role would have helped us much more.
Remember, the movie could have had a trans woman in it. Imagine how much better that would have been for trans women and girls.
In addition it has been stated to me several times by Leto’s fans who believe they’re defending him when they tell me, the part was originally written to be a drag queen or transvestite (by a filmmaker who doesn’t know the difference, and claimed to be unaware that there were even such a thing as transgender actors, and made this claim recently, after Laverne Cox and Carmen Carrera appeared on Katie Couric’s show.)
According to the fans who wrote me, Leto chose to play the character as a transsexual woman, so he was not just following the script he was given. Furthermore, actors aren’t soldiers following orders, and Leto wasn’t making this movie because it was filling his pockets, so let’s not act like he was just keeping his head down and doing what he was told.
Also, do a google search on the term “White Man’s Burden” to perhaps get some understanding of how a culture can still be marginalizing and detrimental without being intentionally mean or hateful.
It would probably have been better to cast a trans person for the role, but this hairsplitting is just bizarre. What do people think the difference was in 1990 between how a transsexual looked and acted, and how a transvestite or cross-dresser looked and acted, given that the person in question was working-class, living as a woman more or less full time, doing sex work for a living, and “addicted to drugs” (I’m guessing heroin)?
Hey remember that time on Twitter when I accused you of shifting your argument to make whatever case you want to make and how it comes across as just wanting to be divisive and stir stuff up? This is one of those times.
Why, you might ask? Because you personally have advocated against the erasure of transvestites or other non-transition track trans identities from historical records, you have attacked others when they have posted historical photos of transvestites and cross dressers and identified them as transsexual women. So again I make the statement to you, if the difference matters when it serves your point then it matters all the time, even when you disagree with it. To say it’s splitting hairs now because trans women care about it, but that it doesn’t when you care about it is hypocritical.
Flat out, if Jared took a transvestite character and said “Hey this is a transsexual woman!” then that is the exact same type of transvestite erasure you typically advocate against.
Yes, Rye, I do remember listening patiently for over an hour to your arguments, and finally conceding that you had identified a superficial inconsistency. Then, when I was looking forward to discussing the main point of my argument with you, you were all “Oh, look at the time, gotta go!”
Is this going to be like that? Because that was no fun.
If that’s going to be your attitude, then no, I guess not. I cannot imagine anything fruitful coming from continuing down this path. If you really think that inconsistency is superficial then I guess you can file me as just one more person you feel does it all wrong, and I’m pretty okay with that. Have a nice day.
Even the way you’re spinning that conversation doesn’t really paint your position that well. Yeah, after over an hour of an unplanned internet conversation, I had to get back to my life. And clearly that time I did spend was wasted.
